William H. "Pop" Winters Medal of Valor Award
On January 11, 2007 The Phoenixville Fire Department
along with Mutual Aid companies were dispatched to a
reported apartment fire at 232 Church St around 12:30
A.M. Chief Jim Gable arrived on the scene with smoke
showing from a 3 story apartment building. As crews
began to advance hose lines they were advised of a
victim being trapped. Firefighter/EMT Nick DiVesta,
Captain David J. Meadows and Captain Walt Bohn
immediately dropped the hose line and preceded into the
building to search for the trapped occupant.
Within minutes the crew located the victim and brought
him out to waiting EMS personnel. The crew along with
additional man power went back into firefighting
operations and extinguish the 2 alarm fire.
Chief Gable nominated Firefighter/EMT Nick DiVesta,
Captain David J. Meadows and Captain Walt Bohn for the
Pop Winters Award for the crews courageous efforts. On
October 4, 2007 these members received the Medal of
Valor for their courageous efforts from the Chester
County Fire Marshal's Office.
Congratulations to Firefighter/EMT Nick DiVesta, Captain
David J. Meadows and Captain Walt Bohn from the officers
and members
of the Phoenixville Fire
Department.
