2 Alarm
Fire on Hall Street
01/22/2008
Firefighters from Phoenixville and the surrounding area
battled a 2 Alarm row-house fire in the 200 block of
Hall Street late Tuesday afternoon. Initial 911 calls at
5:19 PM reported a fire near the Phoenixville Civic
Center and crews quickly found a 3-story row house at
218 Hall Street with heavy smoke showing from the front
and fire showing from the rear.
An aggressive interior attack knocked down the fire
that was throughout the entire first floor of 218 Hall
Street with extension to the 2nd floor and the row homes
on both sides. Quick actions by the approximately 75
firefighters onscene limited the fire spread and
contained the worst damage to the original dwelling.
Extensive overhaul was performed and crews remained
onscene for several hours wetting down hot spots and
assisting fire investigators.
The fire, which caused over $300,000 in damage, remains
under investigation by authorities. Fortunately there
were no civilian or firefighter injuries, however some
pets were lost.
